African Mayors Award: Large and Small Cities Shortlisted

The names of the shortlisted cities in two of the three major categories in the African Mayors Awards have been announced on 20 April 2015. The two categories in question are the “Large Cities” category and the “Small Cities” category with three cities competing in each one of them.

UCLG Africa Secretary General represented the UCLG family on a panel discussion on the international guidelines on Urban and Territorial Planning, a key tool to support the New Urban Agenda organized as part of side events of the second Preparatory Committee of Habitat III.


Meeting of the Network of Locally Elected Women of Africa (REFELA)

The meeting of the Network of the Locally Elected Women of Africa (REFELA, in its French acronym) was held in Rabat, on 12-14 April 2015. This meeting was in line with the strategic partnership developed in Morocco between the REFELA, UN-Women Multi-Country Office for the Maghreb (Morocco) and the Direction des cadres administratifs et techniques du Ministère de l’Intérieur, the Moroccan body responsible for administrative and technical officers. 


Habitat III PrepCom 2 Meetings in Nairobi, Kenya

The UCLG Africa Secretariat participated, on 12-13 April 2015, in the preparatory meetings towards the second assembly of local and regional governments in the framework of the PrepCom 2.
