Join us to celebrate the World Day of African Culture & Afro-descendants

Join us to celebrate the World Day of African Culture & Afro-descendants

"People without culture are people without soul," said the Nigerian writer, Anthony Biakolo

This assertion reflects the motivations of the organizers for the first edition of the World Day of African Culture & Afro-descendants (JMCA), scheduled for January 24, 2018 in Bamako (Mali).

This day of celebration will show African culture in all its diversity by bringing together members of the Diaspora and Afro-descendants from the Caribbean and America. It is in this context that the first edition of the World Day of African Culture & Afro-descendants (JMCA) will be launched on the initiative of the NGO RAPEC (African Network of Promoters and Cultural Entrepreneurs).

UCLG Africa will be a partner organization for the day alongside the Government of Mali, the International Committee for the mobilization of JMCA with the support of UNESCO, the ACP (Group of Caribbean and Pacific African States), Independent Cultural Centers of Africa, as well as the Foundation for the Culture of Peace.
